Outi Tervo has worked with whales in Greenland since 2003. She did her PhD thesis on the acoustic behaviour on bowhead whales in Disko Bay, West Greenland, where she has also lived for several years. She is interested in the behavioural ecology of marine mammals and has in her reseach focused on acoustic behaviour. She is especially interested in the evolution of acoustic signals, the usage of them and the potential effects of disturbance on the behaviour of the animals.
