Survival in the camp

You might wonder how the team survives in a camp at a very remote place, where the nearest little town, Ittoqqortoormiit, is located 230 kilometres away. You cannot just go shopping around the corner. What happens when the Twin Otter plane has left us behind and flies
back to Island?

The answer is to be found in the preparation that has been going on for a whole year; the shopping lists and the fact that the team brings a
cook. All the meals are very delicious, healthy and quite advanced. We keep the 43 boxes of food, bought in Akureyri, in a freezer. This we
have placed in a generator-run refrigerator, filled with ice from the icebergs in the fiord. Dinner is served every day at 7 p.m. and the menu could read “Icelandic lamb with broccoli salad”, “musk ox burgers with fresh mushroom”, “pasta with spinach and fresh trout from the sea” and as a curiosity: “polar-bear steak”.
